Sleek design for a sleek machine

The Ultimaker 3 sports a unique design with an 8.5 x 8.5 x 7.9 in build volume, totaling 570 cubic inches. With a large build volume, the Ultimaker 3 also offers dual print cores. The Ultimaker dual print core system works by printing a specific material type in each print core.

The first print core (known as print core AA) uses any common Ultimaker filament such as ABS, CPE, CPE+, PLA, etc. The second print core (known as BB) is primarily used for print support material, known as PVA filament. PVA filament material is used to build support structures on a model. Regularly most support structures need to be mainly removed after a print is done. With PVA material, you can use water to remove the PVA material cleanly.

Wide range of print material support

The Ultimaker filament material library continues to grow and currently features 9 different materials. While there are 9 major Ultimaker materials, this doesn't mean Ultimaker users are restricted. With an open source system, Ultimaker users can venture into other non-Ultimaker filament materials from 3rd party manufacturers. Ultimaker's Cura software also contains filament profiles to uniquely configure the Ultimaker 3 to print under specific conditions needed for whichever filament is being used.
